Free Initial Consultation Terms

Updated: 31 October 2026

Where KPS confirms an initial consultation is free, it is intended to understand the general nature of your concern, discuss possible options and identify potential next steps. It is subject to appointment availability and any duration communicated when confirmed.

Scope

A free introductory appointment does not include substantive document review, drafting, representation, court or tribunal filings, negotiations or ongoing casework unless we expressly agree otherwise. A consultation does not guarantee a particular outcome or that KPS can accept a further engagement.

Retainer and professional duties

Submitting a web enquiry or booking an appointment does not itself establish an ongoing solicitor-client retainer. Acceptance of instructions is subject to appropriate conflicts checks, identity and regulatory requirements, availability and written confirmation of scope and fees. Nothing in this notice excludes professional duties arising from advice actually provided.

Deadlines and confidentiality

Do not assume an appeal, court, limitation or filing deadline is protected just because you have contacted us. Clearly identify any urgent date and seek timely advice. Avoid submitting sensitive documents through an initial web form unless necessary. We handle information subject to legal confidentiality and data protection obligations.

Paid instructions

Any paid work is subject to a written engagement agreement and our Terms of Business. See our Privacy Notice for personal information processing.
